Chiropractic (McTimoney)

What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a method of adjusting the bones of your body to keep the spine correctly aligned and to ensure that your body works comfortably and with flexibility. Misalignments occur for many reasons such as incorrect lifting, posture, awkward falls, accidents, childbirth, stress and exertion while cold.

McTimoney is different. It is a whole body technique. All the joints are interconnected so it is important to work on the whole body, not just the affected area. This form of chiropractic is known for its gentleness.

McTimoney chiropractors have a finely tuned sense of touch. Practitioners use their hands only, to feel for the position of the bones and make the subtle adjustments required.

What happens during a session of McTimoney Chiropractic?

On your first visit I will first take a full case history to help me assess your particular problem. I will then explain the method and outline what to expect. During the treatment I examine all the joints, making appropriate adjustments for each.
Should I find, or suspect, a problem which needs medical investigation, I will refer you to your GP.

How often do I need a McTimoney Chiropractic?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on age, nature and duration of the problem. Most patients need between two and ten treatments.

Do I need to be ill to receive a McTimoney Chiropractic treatment?

As well as dealing with any problems you may have it is well worth receiving preventative treatments throughout the year perhaps quarterly or half yearly to maintain.
