I started my counselling studies in 2010. It seemed a natural progression for me and I love the work.
Originally, over 30 years ago, I trained as a nurse. My work, particularly that with terminal patients, led me to believe there must be something more I could offer. So began my exploration of therapeutic bodywork (shiatsu), meditation, spirituality and healing energy work. I came to realise that the client's self-awareness is core to any lasting and effective healing taking place. It brings choice and new possibilities. I wanted to learn how to offer that space for clients through counselling.
Over the past few years I have gained extensive experience working in a variety of settings, including general counselling, mental health, specialist bereavement counselling and palliative care.
I trained as a Person Centred Counsellor. Put simply, this means that I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is very important and I aim to be as understanding, accepting and genuine as I can be. Within this relationship I hope that you will be able to explore the things that are troubling you and find your own solutions.
I aim to provide a safe space for you where your self-awareness can blossom.
I am MBACP (Member, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and as such am committed to their Ethical Framework and guidance for Good Practice.
